And then again with the release of two mix tape volumes which remixed some of hip-hops greatest tracks of both new and old. Following that came another two impressive albums which hinted back to their first album while at the same time displaying a great deal of evolution and change. Both in terms of musical arrangement as well as more foreign instrumentation. Having been "on tour forever", as their status indicated for years on their <a href="http://www.myspace.com/ratatatmusic">myspace</a>, Evan and Mike continue their relentless worldwide globetrotting by performing a set in Paris back in November. Playing a variety of tracks from each album, they also performed a few new pieces, most likely from the much rumored LP4, supposedly meant to follow soon after LP3.<br /><br />The good people at <a href="http://www.grandcrew.com/">grandcrew.com</a> were there to film a high quality video of the set and have given out this clip containing live versions of 'Shempi' and 'Gettysburg' for your viewing pleasure. Since then he's garnered a large following on his home turf, performing with mash-up master <a href="www.myspace.com/girltalkmusic">Girl Talk</a>, who told me he was amazed at how everybody in the crowd sang along to every song. This is largley due to Australian radio station, <a href="http://www.abc.net.au/triplej/">Triple J</a>, who play a large role in promoting Aussie artists both at home and away. They continue to hype Muscles with some recordings of an acoustic set done this week in Sydney. While playing shows consistently on their home turf over the past few years, 'The Racoons' drastically changed their sound for the better. Lets call it, honing their craft. He disappeared from the scene in early 2002 only to return in early 2008 with his Ep "The Book". His LP "Let the Children Die" is set for release in February '09 on UrbNet Records.<br />His material is hauntingly personal and incredibly raw describing his mother's battle with cancer and his fathers struggle with alcohol. <br />Although he does maintain a dark sense of humor on tracks such as ThisIsWhatItSoundsLike WhenWhiteboysListenToHipHop, where he raps about his father telling him to pull his sagging pants up and asking "did Treach(Naughty By Nature) have to pull his pants up?"
